Watch the Game With Me

Published on April 11, 2026 at 4:27 PM

I'm going to try something new with my content today. I'm am going to talk about every inning as they happen live. Give my thoughts on how the inning went, things I might have seen, or things of that nature. I will be live updating the post every innings or maybe half inning. Let's enjoy some Reds baseball!

Top 1: (side note, hate the red pants and jersey combo. Give me black, white or gray pants.)

Zach Neto, the lead off man, burns one of the challenges on the very first pitch of the game.

Neto said something to Trout before his AB. Could Williamson be tipping his pitches?

Jo Adell singles to left. I am a big card collector and I remember Jo Adell when he was one of the chase rookies as he was making a name for himself in the Majors.

Schanuel hits a weak fly ball to left to end the inning. A curve ball he seemed to identify late leaving him jammed up.

Angels strand 2. Let's see how Steer does in the 2 hole today.

Bottom 1:

Friedl with an uncompetitive strike out. He can not be the lead off guy going forward if this continues.

Steer works a walk in front of Elly who singles him to third. The best hitter so far up with 2 on.

Elly swipes 2nd. Huge spot for Sal here.

Sal takes advantage with an infield single. He hit a slower grounder to 1st, it takes a bad hop and everyone is safe! RBI single for Sal. 1st and 3rd for Geno.

Big league AB from Geno, draw a walk to load them for Lowe. Need to find at least 1 maybe 2 more.

A bases clearing double will tack on 3 more! Great swing from Lowe, Stephenson up.

A wild pitch, Klassen might not make it out of the 1st, infield in.

Four pitch walk to Stephenson. Let's see if the bottom of the order can come through.

Marte ground into a fielders choice to cut down Lowe at the plate. Hayes grounds out to 2nd. The bottom of the order continues to struggle.

Great start! up 4-0 after 1.

Top 2:

Lead off walk from Williamson. He seems to me being too careful and afraid to attack the zone early leaving him behind in many counts.

Williamson walks a pair but gets out of the jam with a 6-4-3 double play. I would like to see Williamson attack more early in the counts to keep his pitch count down over the next few innings.

Bottom 2:

Friedl has a better AB but ultimately grounds out to 2nd.

Steer blasts a change up to left field. Hits a home run off the foul pole! 5-0 Reds. Elly up.

Elly chases ball 4, to run the count full, strikes out looking next pitch on a back door curve.

Stewart comes out of his shoes on the 1st pitch, swings through it. He dials the discipline back in and draws a walk ahead of Geno.

Geno with a seeing eye single to left. 2 on for Lowe. Let's get another extra base hit here!

Lines out to short. 1 run on 2 hits with 2 left on. 5-0 Reds!

Top 3:

Neto line drive single to center to start the top of the 3rd for the Angels.

Trout walks to being up Adell with 2 on and no outs.

Williamson hits Adell, loaded with not outs...

Huge strike out to sit down Soler. Just a ground ball away now.

Weak grounder to Elly will score 1, 2 down.

Fly out to Steer, Williamson strands 2. 5-1 Reds

Bottom 3:

Stephenson walks again on 4 pitches.

Klassen pulled after 2 innings of work. Walking 5, giving up 5. Former Red Suter into the game.

Marte reaches again on a fielders choice to 2nd.  Stephenson back to the dug out.

Hayes flies to right and Marte is picked off. An inning that started off with a walk, end after only 2 more batters.

Top 4:

After a lazy fly to right, Williamson walks his 5th batter to bring up the 9 hole.

He still seems to be dancing around the zone but I do see a bit more aggressiveness as he strikes out the 9 batter with out throwing a ball.

I might have to take that back as he walks Neto. 43 balls, 42 strikes. Trout up with 2 on and 2 out.

Trout smashes a double out of reach of the diving Steer. Scores 2, 5-3 Reds. I hope someone is warming in the pen. Williamson is just about done.

Adell smoked a line drive to Elly for the 3rd out. Damage controlled. Top of the order up next, let's get a few back.

Bottom 4:

For the 3rd straight PA Friedl makes an out to start the inning.

Weak fly to center by Steer. He started the season off slow but is seeming to have picked up the pace.

Elly hits a high bouncing ground ball down the left field line for a stand up double. Sal up with Elly in scoring position and 2 outs.

Sal lines out to 1st. Inning over. 5-3 Reds as we head to the top of the 5th.

Top 5:

Connor Phillips into the ball game for the Reds.

He get Soler to fly out to Marte on the track in right.

Schanuel walks ahead of Grissom.

Connor gets a line drive out to Steer in left.

Follows that up with a 7 pitch walk and out comes Tito. Johnson gets the ball.

Johnson makes quick work of Moncada. A 5 pitch strike out to keep the score 5-3 Reds.

Bottom 5:

Suarez starts off the inning, reaching safely twice so far. A different result here as Suter strikes him out in 4 pitches.

Lefty lefty match up here. Suter v Lowe. Again, quick work from Suter, strikes out Lowe.

Stephenson up now and he hasn't seen a strike yet today. He fouls the first pitch he see off, follows that with a 5-3 ground out. Down in order, heading to the 6th. The 5th innings was the first inning neither team scored today.

Top 6:

Adam Frazier steps up to pinch hit in the 9 spot. He is .308 on the season so far.

That average will fall, Johnson strikes him out swinging on a letters fastball.

The line up flips and brings Neto to the plate.

Swings and drives the first pitch for a double off the left field wall. Trout up to the plate with a runner in scoring position.

Trout skies a 2-0 pitch to Sal at 2nd. 2 away.

Let me tell you something, Tyler Stephenson has such an unreal feel for the strike zone. His ABS success rate is unbelievable. An ABS Challenge sits down Adell and ends the inning.

Bottom 6:

Marte up to start the 6th. 0-2 so far with 2 fielders choice. Flies weakly to right for the 1st out.

Hayes up who is also 0-2. Line out to left. The bottom of the order continues to struggle.

Friedl finds his way aboard with a 2 out bunt single. Landed in no mans land with no chance to get TJ at 1st.

With Steer coming to the plate the Angels are going to the pen bringing in Ryan Zeferjahn.

Friedl attempts a steal of 2nd which puts the 2nd baseman right where Steer ground the ball. Inning over.

Top 7:

Ashcraft enters the game here facing 4,5,6. He has been very impressive to start the season.

I almost had to eat my words right away as Soler hit a warning track fly out to Marte in right.

Schanuel flares a ball that falls just before Steer in left. One aboard for Grissom.

Grissom hits it to the wrong infielder. Gold glover Hayes starts the double play cutting down Schanuel at 2nd, Sal fires to Lowe at first to end the inning. 3,4,5 due up for the Reds. Perfect time for some insurance.

Bottom 7:

Elly leads off the inning with a double just out of reach of Fraizer. Let's cash in now!

Sal was made quick work of, down swinging on 3 pitches.

Elly seems to be antsy on 2nd. I don't think a steal of 3rd here is likely but something to keep your eye on.

Suarez makes an out in a fashion you don't typically see. He popped out to the pitcher who drifted all the way to the 1st base line to make the catch calling off the 1st baseman.

Lowe with a weak ground out to 1st strands Elly after his leadoff double.

Top 8:

The Reds with a few changes. Myers enters for Steer to play center field, moving Friedl to left. McLain enters for Lowe to play 2nd, Sal to 1st. And the 1st half of the dynamic bullpen duo enters the game, Tony Santillan to pitch.

O'Hoppe strikes out swinging but the ball gets past Stephenson. On his way to 1st on the dropped 3rd strike O'Hoppe leaves the runners lane impacting the throw that he beat out. He was called out by the home plate umpire. Manager Kurt Suzuki trying to fire up his team late, gets run from the game.

The new centerfielder Myers catches a lazy fly ball off the bat of Moncada to bring up Fraizer.

Santillan throws just 10 pitches to sit the Angels down in order. Pagan up and warming as we head to the bottom of the 8th. Stephenson to lead it off for the Reds.

Bottom 8:

A Stephenson pop out is followed up by Marte with a single through the 3/4 hole. Hayes and Friedl have struggled to produce this season. Now would be a great time for the boys to get going.

Hayes works back from 0-2 but ultimately makes an out grounding out to 3rd.

Friedl works a great AB, a wild pitch moves Marte to 3rd before Friedl walks.

McLain comes up in a big spot for the Reds here. Friedl swipes 2nd, timer violation by the pitcher and it is quickly 2-0 for McLain.

Another wild pitch scores Marte! McLain walks and brings Elly up with 2 on and 2 outs. Another run here would be great.

Just like the previous AB, McLain swipes 2nd, Elly ahead 2-0. 3rd pitch is a ball inside, followed by a called strike. Swings through a breaking ball to run the count full.

And another wild pitch! Chaos! 7-3 Reds as Elly walks. With 1st open do the Angels dare pitch around Sal to being up Suarez?

They do just that, 4 straight free passes given by the Angels brings up Suarez with the bases loaded.

Suarez leaves them loaded, but the 2 insurance runs were huge. To the 9th up 7-3. Do we see Pagan after the Reds add a pair?

Top 9:

Pagan it is! Let's close the door here.

Great start for Pagan sitting down the lead off man via a fly out to Friedl in left. Trout up next and he can not hurt you. I want to see Pagan attack Trout.

He does not, walks him on 5 pitches.

Now to face Adell. Pagan makes quick work getting an infield fly out to Hayes on the 1st base side of the mound.

Again, Solar can not beat you here, Attack attack attack.

Fly out to left, Reds win!!

That was fun to live post the game. Attached is my score book. Reds break the losing streak and will look to take the series tomorrow!

As always, Who Dey & Go Redlegs!
