Bats Get Hot

A completely different team from what we all watched on Thursday. The Reds tallied ten hits scoring six runs. The mvp of the game is my eyes was Sal Stewart. He went two for four, hit a bomb in the third inning, and lead the team in RBI's with two. Another guy who had a great day at the plate was Matt McLain. He picked up where he left off in the spring going three for four with an RBI and a run scored. He got on base five of six plate appearances. Early hot prediction, both McLain and Stewart receive end of year awards. Defense Player of the Game was Connor Phillips. After giving up two on Thursday, he was lights out today. He went two scoreless and hitless innings with three strike outs. Tony Santillan had a great day in relief. He struck out three of the five he faced walking the other two. Pagan made a mistake in the ninth and it sent the game to extras. He gave up a game tying home run to Wilyer Abreu. First game rep since the playoffs, nothing to worry about since the home run was the only hit surrendered in one and a third innings.

Let's talk ABS again. First off in relation to CB Bucknor's day behind the plate, woof. The Reds went five for five in challenges. When Suarez was up to bat in the sixth he was behind one ball two strikes. Bucknor rings up Suarez on back to back pitches. Suarez immediately challenges both and wins. The following inning Will Benson challenged the 1-0 and 3-0 count. What Bucknor called as a two two count, ABS told us it was a four pitch walk. Elly had one successful challenge. Changed the 1-1 count to a 2-0 count and then drawing a walk four pitches later. I am very interested to see CB's score card when it gets posted.

One thing I do not understand is Tito's love to flip catchers all the time. Why does he refuse to make Tyler Stephenson the every day catcher. There is no reason that Stephenson could not catch today. Jose Trevino went 0-5 with two strike outs and a bad sac bunt attempt in the tenth. I trust Stephenson more defensively and offensively. I really hope we see Stephenson tomorrow back in the line up.

Reds are facing a lefty tomorrow so I am expecting the Opening Day line up again batting Marte over Benson. I am excited to see what Rhett Lowder can do against this Red Sox line up. The Red Sox are out hitting the Reds twenty to fourteen this series. Hopefully Lowder can slow down the red hot Sox.

Prediction:

Reds: 8

Red Sox: 5

Attached you will find 2 scorebook pages. I learned to keep score at a young age and I always enjoyed it. I figured it would help me with stats I would want to look up while writing my recap. So instead of only myself ever seeing them, I figured I'd attach them to the recap posts of the games that I do keep a book for. Enjoy looking over the book and learning all the things I do that you may do differently. I would be interested in hearing what symbols or abbreviations you guys use if you keep a book that you find helpful that are not the typical ones.

Thanks for reading and chatting along with me! Who Dey & Go Redlegs!
